Sail Classic. Feel the Difference.
Porquerolles Classic
4 - 7 June 2026
in the heart of the excitement
Porquerolles Classic - Less Spectacle. More Sailing.
There are places that do not seek attention, and for that very reason stay with you. Porquerolles is one of them. Situated off the coast of Provence, protected as a nature reserve since 1971, largely free of motor traffic and marked by a stillness rarely found in the Mediterranean – this island provides the setting for a sailing event that has deliberately stepped away from the pace of modern life.
When classic yachts gather here, the result is a regatta whose appeal lies not in spectacle, but in atmosphere. The Porquerolles Classic is the kind of event where sailing is only part of the story – the way of life surrounding it matters just as much.
Those who attend encounter not only remarkable yachts, but a setting that carries the regatta without effort. Life in the harbour, the routines on board and the landscape of the island come together to form a whole that feels refined without being staged. The Porquerolles Classic is cultured, maritime and pleasantly unhurried.
The event is made for those who look for more in sailing than speed. The combination of an exceptional location, authentic vessels and a shared experience on the water makes the Porquerolles Classic something genuinely uncommon.
The Porquerolles Classic is equally well suited for companies looking for a team event away from the ordinary. Entire yachts can be booked exclusively – for groups who want to take sailing home as a real experience, not merely as a backdrop. Those wishing to join individually or reserve a yacht for their team will find all relevant information under Booking.
Long Story Short: What is the Porquerolles Classic?
The Porquerolles Classic is a sailing regatta for classic yachts, held off one of the most remarkable islands in the Mediterranean. No mass starts, no carbon fibre, no spectacle. Instead: carefully selected boats, a well-chosen date in early June, and an atmosphere that cannot be manufactured – one that simply emerges when the place and the people are right.
What defines the Porquerolles Classic:
- Classic yachts with history and character – each one with a story of its own
- Porquerolles as the setting – car-free, largely untouched, national park since 1971
- Early June – the island at its best, before the heat and crowds of high summer
- Individual participation or exclusive yacht booking for groups and teams
- Minimum number of participants: 6
Those who have sailed a classic yacht before will know that it feels different. The Porquerolles Classic is the right place for that feeling.

What’s the Weather Like During the Porquerolle Classic?
By early June, Porquerolles has settled into its most rewarding season. The summer crowds have yet to arrive, the light is sharp and clear, and the mistral still carries enough strength to fill the sails of a classic yacht properly. It is the kind of weather that was made for this.
Warm Days and Clear Skies
Daytime temperatures average around 24 °C (75 °F), cooling pleasantly to 17 °C (63 °F) in the evenings. The sea sits at approximately 20 °C (68 °F) – warm enough for a swim at anchor, cool enough to keep the air fresh on deck. With up to eleven hours of daylight, days are long and visibility is excellent. Rain is rare. June is one of the driest months on the French Mediterranean coast.
Wind and Sailing Conditions
The mistral – the dry north-westerly that defines the Provençal coast – brings clean, steady conditions that suit classic yachts particularly well. Winds typically range between 10 and 20 knots, with stronger gusts possible on mistral days. Mornings are often calm, with the breeze building through the afternoon. For crews used to reading the wind rather than relying on instruments, June off Porquerolles rewards patience and feel.
A Tactical and Rewarding Racecourse
The waters around Porquerolles offer a varied and demanding racecourse. Wind shifts near the headlands, the interplay between open sea and sheltered bays, and the occasional unpredictability of the mistral keep racing engaging from start to finish. This is not sailing that favours brute speed. It favours judgement.
In Summary – The Right Time and the Right Place
June on Porquerolles is unhurried, warm and reliably beautiful. The island is at its quietest, the conditions at their most interesting, and the evenings long enough to make the most of both. These are the weeks the Porquerolles Classic was built around.
Can a Regatta be Sustainable?
We believe it can. For us, sustainability isn’t a slogan – it’s a conscious choice that shapes everything we do, on board and beyond. When you join one of our classic regattas, you’re not just stepping onto a beautiful yacht. You become part of a carefully curated event: powered by the wind, in harmony with nature, and guided by a deep respect for craftsmanship, tradition, and the environment.
Our yachts are not disposable products – they’re living history. Many of them have been sailing for generations. Their survival depends on skilled restoration, continuous maintenance, and thoughtful use. They stand for something rare today: longevity, not fast consumption.
Our commitment to sustainability extends to every part of the regatta experience:
- Our shuttle service is provided with electric vehicles, keeping emissions as low as possible.
- Our catering comes from trusted local producers who can clearly trace the origin of their ingredients and contribute to the local economy.
- We avoid single-use plastics and use reusable, sustainable tableware for all food service.
- Our crew wear is supplied by PAYPER, an Italian brand known for ethical production and quality. Their clothing is made from 100% premium cotton – designed to last long after the event. Learn more here.
Our regattas are not mass events – they are designed with intention. Small groups. Personal connections. A meaningful atmosphere that honours nature, tradition, and the human touch.
We know that not everything is perfect yet – but every conscious step matters.
They may be small steps – but they are intentional. They mark the beginning of a journey where sustainability and quality go hand in hand. Because true experiences do not begin with sacrifice – they begin with a choice to enjoy more mindfully.

Hallowe'en
In 1926, William Fife III launched the 24.7m cutter Hallowe’en. According to William Fife III, designer of a number of classic yachts still racing today, “Hallowe’en is the perfect gentleman’s yacht. She is a jewel”. When gaff-rigged racers dominated various regattas, he chose to rig the yacht as a low-aspect Bermudan cutter. Her mast and boom heights continued to change over the years, and eventually, she was transformed into a yawl.
Under new owner Alfred Larsen, a Norwegian industrialist, she returned to the Atlantic after racing in the Mediterranean for several years. The yacht became the official yacht of the Royal Norwegian Racing Club and was helmed by Prince Olaf numerous times. Following her transatlantic journey in 1938, she vanished from radar screens. She was further renamed Cotton Blosson IV by Walter Wheeler and continued her history of ocean racing before eventually being donated to the Classic Boat Museum in New Port, Rhode Island, for a much-needed refit. As a result of funds drying up in New Port, Hallowe’en was in need of a new owner and returned to the Mediterranean when Elizabeth Meyer (owner of J-Class Endeavour) assisted in finding a buyer.
From 1988 to 1991, Hallowe’en was carefully restored to her original lines at the Classic Boat Works in Newport, Rhode Island. All sawn English Oak frames were carefully repaired or replaced, and the planking was secured with bronze fasteners from the museum. Having undergone some major changes in France in 1994, she underwent another transformation in 1998, perhaps looking better now than ever. After several refits (and owners), she is now available for charter in the Mediterranean, where she races competitively in the classic regatta circuit spanning France, Corsica, Spain, and Italy. The latest refit was performed in 2009 by Fairlie Restorations on the Hamble river, UK.
Classic Charme
Hallowe’en is undoubtedly one of the most stunning yachts on the regatta scene. This fast and excellent Fife-built cruiser/racer is highly recommended for charter by anyone seeking a vintage wooden sailing yacht of the highest quality. In addition to being one of the most beautiful Fifes ever built, she is able to make fast passages across the oceans and still wins classic regattas. With her original mahogany interior, Hallowe’en is one of the finest vintage racing yachts in the Mediterranean.
The Other Mediterranean
Porquerolles
Porquerolles is the largest of the Îles d’Hyères – three islands off the Provençal coast that have long been known as the Golden Islands, named after the cliffs that glow in the evening light. It is the kind of place that is hard to describe without sounding as though you are trying to sell it. So we won’t try. Come once, and it speaks for itself.
For much of the 19th century, the island served as a military base. The former garrison buildings still frame the central Place d’Armes, today lined with cafés and small restaurants where the evening has no particular reason to end. In 1912, the Belgian adventurer François Joseph Fournier bought the island as a wedding gift for his wife, planted vineyards, built paths and left behind a landscape that still carries his mark. In 1971, the French state stepped in, placed much of the island under national park protection, and kept it that way. Largely car-free, quietly regulated, and in large parts simply left alone – Porquerolles has managed to remain itself.
For the Porquerolles Classic, this is precisely the point. A regatta needs more than wind and water. It needs a place that suits it.
Beaches & Nature
Porquerolles has two sides. The north coast belongs to the beaches – white sand, water that shifts between turquoise and deep blue, lined with pine and eucalyptus trees. Plage de la Courtade lies just a short walk from the village, Plage d’Argent a little further west, and Plage de Notre-Dame to the east, quieter and more secluded. All three are easily reached on foot or by bicycle.
The south coast reveals what Porquerolles is beyond the beaches: steep cliffs, wild coves, and stretches of land that remain largely untouched. More than 51 kilometres of marked trails wind through a landscape of rare richness – maquis, strawberry trees, mastic shrubs and dense oak forests. There is a reason Porquerolles holds national park status. The nature here has not been arranged for visitors. It simply is – and that, on a Mediterranean island in summer, is quietly remarkable.
Restaurants & Shopping
The village of Porquerolles is small, but takes its food seriously. Around the Place d’Armes, restaurants work with fresh catch and Provençal produce. Find a table on a terrace, order a glass of local rosé, and let the evening take its time. For something more considered, Le Mas du Langoustier at the western tip of the island is one of the finest restaurants in the region – overlooking a bay that makes it difficult to leave.
Shopping on Porquerolles is deliberately limited. Local wines – among them the Domaine de l’Île, whose vineyards are now part of the Chanel portfolio – olive oil, lavender and a handful of craft shops are what the island offers. Those looking for more will not find it here, and that is entirely intentional. Porquerolles has kept the character of a fishing village. It is not a place that competes for your attention.
Culture & Entertainment
Fort Sainte-Agathe stands above the harbour with a 360-degree view over the island and the Hyères roadstead. Behind walls four metres thick, the tower houses a permanent exhibition on the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the Hyères islands – and every July, it becomes the stage for Jazz à Porquerolles. Concerts under an open sky, in a setting that no concert hall can replicate.
A short walk from the harbour, the Villa Carmignac presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art and a sculpture garden – a cultural weight that one does not necessarily expect from an island of this size. Beyond that, Porquerolles hosts an annual film festival focused on environmental themes, and guided tours that connect the island’s history with its landscape. Culturally, the island carries more than its quiet appearance suggests.
