ALPINE RALLY & REGATTA

6 - 14 September 2025

TWO WORDS. ONE JOURNEY. UNFORGETTABLE.

2ndAlpine Rally & Regatta: A Captivating Journey from the Alps to the Riviera

Imagine a journey that combines the thrill of classic vehicles with the elegance of traditional sailing – welcome to the 2nd Alpine Rally & Regatta from 6 – 14 September 2025. Noblesse Yachts®, in collaboration with the legendary rally co-driver Christian Geistdörfer, has created an exclusive event that takes you from the majestic Alps to the sparkling Côte d’Azur.

The Alpine Rally, limited to six vehicles with a total of twelve participants, is open to all categories of classic and youngtimers, with a particular welcome extended to classic sports cars. Christian Geistdörfer has designed a route that traverses the most picturesque Alpine roads and the most legendary special stages of the Monte Carlo Rally. You’ll be living and breathing automotive history as you navigate these legendary routes, breathe in the mountain air at the famous Col du Turini, and arrive in Monaco at sunrise—just like the drivers of the legendary Monte Carlo Rally.

And then – the rhythm shifts. The mountains fade behind, and the sea takes over.
After four exhilarating days on the road, you will reach the pinnacle of the journey: the Monaco Classic Week from 9 – 14 September 2025. Four regatta days, fresh onboard catering, a daily toast back in port, and a social programme that reflects the Riviera’s unmistakable style.
Highlights include the Chefs’ Competition, the prestigious Concours d’Élégance, and exclusive evenings at the Yacht Club de Monaco – from the refined Opening Cocktail to the legendary White Night Crew Party.

Alpine Rally Plate

Two disciplines, one spirit: precision, elegance, and a passion for excellence.
Two machines, one sensation: the engine beneath you, the wind at your back.

One memory that lingers – long after the engines rest and the sails come down.

What is the Alpine Rally & Regatta?

The Alpine Rally & Regatta is a one-of-a-kind experience that brings together two worlds: a four-day road adventure from Gstaad to Monaco for classic cars, youngtimers, and selected GT vehicles – crossing legendary alpine passes, including iconic Monte Carlo Rally stages such as Col de Turini and Col de la Madone.

Upon arrival at the Côte d’Azur, the journey continues at sea with three days of elegance and tradition during the Monaco Classic Week – a prestigious regatta dedicated to classic sailing yachts, featuring historic vessels, refined hospitality, and Riviera flair.

It’s a celebration of automotive passion and maritime heritage – united in one extraordinary event.

What Is Included in the Alpine Rally & Regatta?

How Challenging Is the Driving Route?

The Alpine Rally is designed to be enjoyable, not extreme. While the route includes legendary mountain passes such as Col de l’Iseran, Col de la Bonette and Col de Turini, all roads are paved and suitable for classic cars in good condition. You’ll encounter winding climbs, hairpin bends, and occasional steep gradients – but always on well-maintained roads with breathtaking views.

There’s no racing, no timing, and no pressure. The focus is on precision, enjoyment, and style. Drivers should be confident on mountain roads, but no previous rally experience is required.

If at any point a driver feels that a particular mountain pass or section may not be suitable for themselves or their vehicle, we are happy to provide an alternative route. Our team will ensure that every participant has a safe and enjoyable experience – without compromising the spirit of the journey.

Feeling curious? Discover the route.

What Kind of Roads and Conditions Can I Expect?

The Alpine Rally follows carefully selected routes made up entirely of paved, public roads – many of them among the most scenic in Europe. You can expect winding mountain passes, sweeping valleys, and occasional narrow village lanes. The surfaces are generally well maintained, though some alpine stretches may be a bit rough in places – part of the charm of authentic driving in the high mountains.

Weather conditions in early September are typically mild and dry, but as we travel through high-altitude terrain, short rain showers or cooler temperatures on the passes are always possible. A well-maintained vehicle and a sense of calm behind the wheel are all you need to enjoy the drive to the fullest.

Do I Need Special Insurance or Documents for My Car?

No special insurance is required, but your vehicle must be road-legal, registered, and fully insured for use in Switzerland, France, and Italy. Please ensure that your insurance includes cross-border coverage and that all documents (registration, insurance certificate, and driver’s licence) are valid and carried with you at all times.

We also recommend bringing a European accident statement form and checking whether your insurance includes breakdown assistance abroad. For non-EU participants, an international insurance card (Green Card) may be required.

Please note:
If your vehicle is registered as a historic car (e.g. with an H-plate or equivalent), make sure that your insurance allows international travel and includes alpine routes. Some vintage car policies may have restrictions regarding usage abroad or on mountain roads.

If you’re unsure, our team is happy to advise in advance of the event.

Can My Vehicle Be Transported to Gstaad and Returned from Monaco?

Absolutely. Upon request, we can arrange professional vehicle transport to Gstaad prior to the tour, as well as return shipping from Monaco once the event concludes. Whether you require an enclosed individual transport for a valuable classic or a premium shared solution for a GT car, we work with trusted logistics partners who specialise in handling exceptional automobiles across Europe.

Early booking is recommended, particularly for long-distance or enclosed transports. We are happy to provide tailored recommendations and a personalised quote based on your vehicle and location.

What Happens in Case of Bad Weather or Mechanical Issues?

The Alpine Rally is carefully planned for early September, when weather conditions are typically mild and stable. However, should adverse weather arise — such as heavy rain or sudden fog on mountain passes — our team will monitor conditions closely and suggest safe alternative routes where needed. Flexibility and safety always come first.

In the event of a mechanical issue, a support vehicle is available along the route to assist with basic roadside help. If further repairs or recovery are required, we’ll help coordinate with local garages or towing services. Participants should ensure their vehicle is in excellent condition prior to the tour and that their insurance includes roadside assistance across borders.

Can I Book Only the Alpine Rally Without the Regatta? (Or Vice Versa)

Yes. The Alpine Rally and the Monaco Classic Week are designed to complement each other – but can also be booked separately.

You are welcome to join only the Alpine Rally, from Gstaad to Monaco (6–9 September), or only the Monaco Classic Week (10–14 September), depending on your personal interests, availability and travel plans. Please note that individual bookings are subject to availability, as priority will be given to participants booking the full programme.

Those who take part in both parts of the experience will enjoy a seamless transition from mountain roads to the elegance of the sea – but each section of the event is designed to stand on its own.

How Many Vehicles and Participants Will Take Part?

The number of participants is deliberately limited to ensure an exclusive and personal atmosphere. The Alpine Rally is open to a maximum of 12 vehicles, each with a driver and an optional co-driver or passenger.

For the Monaco Classic Week, we welcome up to 12 guests aboard the classic yachts. Early booking is highly recommended, especially for those interested in the full programme combining the tour and the regatta.

This limited group size creates space for genuine encounters, inspiring conversations, and shared moments that make the journey truly special.

How Do We Communicate During the Alpine Rally?

Throughout the entire tour, our team will be available to support you – both in person and digitally. Each participant will receive a walkie-talkie at the start of the tour, allowing for direct and distraction-free communication between vehicles while driving. This ensures important updates, spontaneous changes or stop announcements can be shared quickly and safely – without relying on smartphones or apps during the drive.

You’ll also receive a printed roadbook with detailed maps, daily stages, and curated background information. At each stopover, a member of our team will be on-site and available for personal assistance.

Day 5 - Rally Legends and Riviera Views: A Grand Alpine Finale

Tuesday

9th September

A Quiet Morning with Racing Legends

After three days of high alpine adventure, we enjoy a slower start in the mountain village of St-Sauveur-sur-Tinée. But today’s roads are no less iconic: we begin with a climb to the legendary Col de Turini, one of the most famous stages in the history of the Monte Carlo Rally. The narrow tarmac winds through dense pine forests and sharp switchbacks – a final taste of driving drama before the landscape begins to soften.

Legendary Rallye Roads and High-Altitude Passes
As we ascend, we approach the famous Col de Turini, a stage well known in the Rallye Monte Carlo for its sharp hairpin turns and exhilarating challenges. From here, we continue over the equally iconic Col de la Madone, with tight corners and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Both passes, legendary in motorsport, offer not only a thrilling drive but also unrivalled panoramic scenery.

Descent to the Côte d’Azur
As we descend, the Mediterranean gradually appears on the horizon. The final kilometres are gentle and winding, passing through hillside villages and sunlit terraces before we sweep down into Monaco. After four days and countless curves, the Alps release us into the Côte d’Azur.

The Day at a Glance:

  • Col de Turini: We begin the day with a climb to one of the most iconic rally passes in Europe – a twisting road through pine forests and tight switchbacks, steeped in Monte Carlo legend.

  • Col de la Madone: After a midday break, we continue on a quieter route where the mountains begin to soften. Olive groves, stone terraces and warm light mark our approach to the south.

  • Descent into Monaco: The final stretch reveals sweeping sea views and winding village roads, leading us gently into the principality of Monaco – a spectacular end to our alpine journey.

Key Attractions Along the Route
  • La Bollène-Vésubie: A traditional alpine village perched near the start of the Col de Turini, offering authentic mountain charm and views over the Vésubie valley.

  • Notre-Dame des Neiges (Col de Turini): A small chapel at the summit of the Col de Turini – a unique spiritual and historical marker at 1,607 m (5,272 ft), often missed by travellers.

  • Fort de la Madone: Hidden near the Col de la Madone, this 19ᵗʰ-century military fort overlooks the Mediterranean and once guarded the coastal approaches to Nice and Monaco

The Unsung Hero of Rally Sport

Christian Geistdörfer

When one thinks of the great names in rally sport, Walter Röhrl immediately springs to mind. Yet behind every successful driver stands an equally talented co-driver. Christian Geistdörfer is one of these – a man whose voice rarely dominates the headlines, but whose words can determine victory or defeat.

Born in Munich in 1953, Geistdörfer has established himself as one of the world’s finest co-drivers. His career began in the early 1970s, but he achieved true fame at Walter Röhrl’s side. Together, Röhrl and Geistdörfer formed an invincible duo. They dominated rally sport in the 1980s, crowning themselves world champions in 1980 and 1982. Their triumph at the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally remains unforgettable – a victory that still leaves rally fans worldwide in awe. And then came Portugal.

The night when two men conquered the fog and became legends.

Rally Portugal, 7th March 1980. The Night of Arganil: A thick veil of fog shrouds the Portuguese mountains. Amidst this impenetrable wall of grey and darkness, one of the most legendary episodes in rally history unfolds. Walter Röhrl, the lanky Bavarian, sits at the wheel of his Fiat 131 Abarth. He’s furious because a service mechanic had earlier rammed his car, bending the entire front end. Beside him is Christian Geistdörfer, his faithful co-driver. The tension in the cockpit is palpable. Röhrl’s voice sounds rough as he says to Geistdörfer: “Christian, buckle up!” After a deep breath comes the announcement that will go down in motorsport annals: “We’re about to tear it up –  It’s going to get rough.”

What follows is a drive that pushes the boundaries of the possible. With visibility barely five metres, Röhrl races through the night. His eyes are almost closed, relying solely on Geistdörfer’s precise instructions. “Left 3, tightens, 70, Right 4 long, caution crest!” Geistdörfer’s voice is the only guide in this sea of fog. Röhrl reacts lightning-fast, the Fiat virtually flying over the course. For 42 kilometres they race through the night, a dance on a knife’s edge. Any mistake could be fatal, but Röhrl and Geistdörfer are in perfect harmony. They are one with the car, one with the course.

When they finally cross the finish line, there’s disbelieving amazement. The timekeepers can’t believe their eyes. Röhrl and Geistdörfer have gained an incredible seven seconds per kilometre. Nearly five minutes ahead of their pursuers. On this night in Arganil, Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer wrote rally history.

But Walter Röhrl wasn’t the only driver with whom Geistdörfer made history. In 1984, he switched to the side of exceptional Finnish driver Hannu Mikkola. Together they secured the world championship title, cementing Geistdörfer’s reputation as one of the best co-drivers of all time. Today, years after his active days in the cockpit, Geistdörfer passes on his experience. For the Alpine Tour & Regatta 2025, he has created a roadbook that is more than just a collection of waypoints. It’s a journey through the history of rally sport, peppered with anecdotes and insider knowledge from a man who has shaped the sport like few others.
